Ahara Karnataka Ration card is a very important document for any country, especially in India. With which he/she can avail all the government schemes like food at affordable cost. Like all other states, Ration cards have been provided across the state of Karnataka by their Government based on the number and economic status of the family members. Families under BPL (Below Poverty Level) can use ration cards for various purposes and get benefits out of it.

Currently, The Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department of Karnataka are providing only four types of ration cards to fulfil the economic condition of the families. They are as follows

  • PHH (Priority HouseHold) Ration Cards
  • Annapurna Yojana Ration Cards
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana Ration Cards
  • (Non-Priority HouseHold) Ration Cards – NPHH

Types of Ration Card issued

According to the economic status of the families in Karnataka. The Karnataka Food Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department is issuing four types of ration cards.

PHH Ration Cards – Priority Household Ration Cards provided only for rural people of the state. The PHH Ration Cards are further classified into two sub-groups. Food and other facilities are available on a monthly basis under this ration card.

All the beneficiaries of this card will get rice at the rate of Rs 3 per kg, wheat at Rs 2 per kg, and oil at Rs 1 per kg.

Annapurna Yojana Ration Cards – Family members whose age is 65 years or more get these ration cards,  Under this card, 10 kg of food grains will be given on a monthly basis.

Antyodaya Anna Yojana Ration Cards  – Those families whose monthly income is less than Rs 15000 will get these cards. Under this, the beneficiary family gets food grains at a cheaper rate than other ration cards. In this, rice is provided to the family at the rate of Rs 3 per kg and wheat at the rate of Rs 2 per kg.

Non-Priority HouseHold (NPHH) Ration Cards  – Those families who have been getting a stable salary get this ration card. These ration cardholders do not receive food grains on this card.


Food items can be obtained at subsidized rates from the government fair rate shops through ration cards without any hassle and this acts as a major benefit for the people of India. Thus, a ration card is the way to get food items without the problem of financial money.

Eligibility Criteria

You must fulfill the following criteria in order to apply

  • Only a permanent resident of Karnataka is allowed to avail this Card
  • The Applicant’s family should not have a ration card before.
  • Ration cards will be distributed among the beneficiaries on the basis of their family members and financial status.
  • Newly married couples can also apply for a new ration card.
  • You can apply for this card if your ration card has expired.

If you fulfill the eligibility criteria above, then you must have the following documents listed below

  • Residential Proof Copy
  • Birth Certificate
  • A copy of identity proof like voter ID, driving license or Aadhar card.
  • Family income proof copy
  • Passport size photo
  • Valid mobile number or email address
  • Self-declaration and certificate issued by the ward councilor/head.
  • Tenancy agreement (if the applicant is a tenant)

Online Application Process of Ahara Karnataka Ration Card

If you have all the required documents above and if you fulfill all the criteria mentioned, then you can apply for the ration card online by following the steps below

  • Visit the official website of the Food Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department. 
  • Home page opens in front of you, Translate it into English as per your convenience. Click on the “e-Services” option after this on the menu.
  • Now a new page will open. You have to place the cursor on the “e-ration card” link which will open a drop-down menu.
  • Click on the “New Ration Card” option. A new page opens, where you have to choose the type of a ration card.
  • You will be given the option of Priority Household (PHH) for BPL Ration Card or Non-Priority Household (NPHH) for APL Ration Card.
  • After selecting one of the options above, you will be prompted to enter the Aadhaar card number and Aadhar linked mobile number in the designated place.
  • An OTP will be sent your registered mobile number, which you will have to enter at the designated place, after which you will see the registration form on your computer and mobile screen as follows
  • The applicant has to enter all the information asked in the application form and upload all the documents along with the form. After this, after checking the information you entered, Click the “Save” button.
  • After successfully submitting the application, a ration card will be issued within 15 days. Applicants can collect them by paying Rs 100 per ration.

To check the status of the application, You need to follow the simple steps below

  • Visit the official website of the Food Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department. 
  • Click on the “e-Services” option given on the menu when the homepage appears.
  • A new page will appear. Here you have to place the cursor on the “e-Status” link and click on the “New/Existing RC Request Status” link.
  • Select your district from the given references. After this, you can see the ration card status in various situations by clicking on the link given on the next page.

  • Visit the official website of the food, civil supplies, and consumer affairs department (ahara.kar.nic.in).
  • Click on the “e-Services” tab in the menu bar when the homepage opens.
  • Now, click on the “e-Ration” link & Select the “Show Village List” tab.
  • Select your respective district, taluk, gram panchayat, and village by clicking on the “Go” button.

A list of all ration for the selected district will appear as a list on your screen.

  • Visit the official website.
  • Click on the e-service option from the menu bar, then go to the- Fair Price Shop option.
  • Select “Show RC List” option from the drop-down list
  • Select the district, taluka, shop, and click the “Go” option.

How to View Ration Card Online

  • Visit the official website to see the ration card.
  • Click on the “e-service” section on the homepage.
  • Go to the “e-ration card” option and then select the “Show Ration Card” option.
  • Enter your RC No and select go option on the page.

Steps to Link Aadhaar Card with the Ration Card

  • Visit the official website of the Food Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department.
  • On the homepage, Click on the “e-service” section from the menu bar.
  • Click on the e-ration card option now and then select the “Link to the UID” option.
  • Upload the required documents by filling the required details in the space provided.
  • After reviewing the information, you have filled in, click on the “Submit” button.
